Getting Into APRS

well, with Peter’s airplane demo last week, and now Adam’s find on mikewren.com. I have decided I need to jump on board. I going to set up for mobile and portable.

for portable, I’m going to set it up to use either with my VX6 or my old FT50. I’ll use the FT50 when I need my VX6 for voice  and the VX6, when I’m hiking.  It’s got to very small tracker, which will display on my Garmin map60cx. Maybe someday ill get a VX8 for for now this should be good enough.

For the mobile, I have 2 tnc option, one is pc based when i have the mobile laptop going, they other is getting a tracker and gettting it to interface with my kenwood/garmin in dash just like it would on nuvi.. Radio wise, option 1 is to use 1 of the 2 ft7800 in the truck or option 2 which is to install my old ft8100,  with the option to switch to one of the ft7800.
